Research Interests:

The major focus of research in the Bopp laboratory is to understand the regulation of T cell responses in a context- and tissue-specific manner. Here, we particularly focus on the functional and molecular characterization of CD4⁺FOXP3⁺ regulatory T (T^REG) cell and CD4⁺ T Helper (T_H) cell differentiation and function. Furthermore, we are interested in non-classical ways of communication between non-hematopoietic cells and cells of myeloid and lymphoid origin. We are aiming to elucidate the role of transcription factors and transcription factor complexes in the differentiation and tissue-specific function of T_REG and T_H cell subsets in cancer, allergy and autoimmune disease.

To accomplish these goals we are conducting state-of-the-art methods, including several techniques for single cell Next-Generation-Sequencing, multi-color flow-cytometry, sophisticated preclinical animal models and analyses of patient material.
