Research Interests:

Our Mucosal Immunology group is focused on understanding the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases at barrier surfaces and the identification of novel therapeutics. Ongoing studies include:

  • Chemokine and microRNA control of CD4+ T cell responses in inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Impact of effector CD4+ T cells on intestinal remodeling and cross-talk with stromal cell populations (including Lymphatic vessels, Paneth cells and Fibroblasts)
  • Role of CD4+ T cells in the generation and maintenance of Gut-Associated Lymphoid Tissues (secondary and tertiary) and the generation of IgA responses

We maintain a translational focus by combining pharmacologic and genetic approaches in transgenic and germ-free mice with advanced immunology and imaging techniques using clinical specimens.
