Research Interests:

We focus on the elucidation of the immune mechanisms operative in the induction, maintenance, and treatment of allergic disorders and the development of novel concepts for efficient and safe allergen-specific immunotherapy. In ongoing studies we address the following research topics:

  • Elucidation of the T cell response to allergens
  • Characterization of antigen-presenting cells in allergic manifestations
  • Characterization of the B cell responses to allergens

Our experimental strategies comprise clinical trials, multi-color flow-cytometry, various cellular and immunological assays (e.g. allergen-specific T cell clones, basophil activation tests), biochemical and molecular approaches (e.g. recombinant allergens), next generation sequencing, and humanized mouse models.
