Research Interests:
My research group studies the human thymus from different aspects. One major goal is to develop better diagnostic tools to measure thymopoiesis for diagnosing primary or secondary immunodeficiencies. We also study how pathological processes within the thymus can cause autoimmunity in rare diseases such as myasthenia gravis or Autoimmune polyendocrinopathy syndrome type 1 (also known as APECED). We aim to understand how different viral infections affect the thymus and its function.
