Research Interests:
Our long-term research interest is to define the nature of protective T cell immune responses against pathogens in mucosal tissues and develop new therapies to enhance these resident immune responses. Her group collaborates with several basic and clinical research groups in order to conduct translational comparative medicine in the following areas:
- HIV reservoir characterization in tissues and new strategies for its elimination
- Sexually Transmitted Infections and co-infections
- Adjuvants and biomarkers of mucosal immunity
- Human tissue explant models to study host-pathogen interactions and immunity
The experimental strategies to address our research interests are mostly based on human tissues and patient biopsies, and include high-dimensional flow-cytometry (conventional and spectral), microscopy and molecular approaches.
